Advising on Thailand’s Largest Public Bus Project and a Milestone in the Country’s Energy Transition

We are pleased to announce that our firm has advised Nakhonchai Air Company Limited in the competitive bidding process with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) and the execution of the lease agreements for 1,520 electric buses (EV buses). With a total project value of approximately THB 15,000 million, this transaction represents the largest public bus project since the establishment of the BMTA and the first large-scale EV bus deployment of BMTA in Thailand’s public transportation system.

The project is a flagship initiative under BMTA’s long-term strategy to replace its aging diesel fleet and transition Bangkok’s public bus network toward electric mobility. It establishes a new benchmark for large-scale EV adoption in the public sector and plays a critical role in modernizing urban transportation infrastructure across the Bangkok metropolitan area.

The deployment of 1,520 EV buses will deliver meaningful environmental benefits, including reduced carbon emissions, improved air quality, and lower noise pollution, while directly supporting Thailand’s Net-Zero Emission objectives and accelerating the country’s clean-transport ecosystem.

The transaction was led by Jirapat Thammavaranucupt, together with Sitthi Meesit, Phuvit Assawarungruang, Ekachai Arunratanothai, and Natthapong Tohyeelah, reflecting our firm’s continued focus on advising high-impact infrastructure and energy-transition projects in Thailand and the region.
