Jirapat & Partners successfully advised U-Tapao International Aviation on securing the long-awaited commencement of the U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Airport City project, one of Thailand’s most significant aviation and infrastructure developments.
U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Airport City project is a flagship development under Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), aimed at establishing U-Tapao Airport as a major international aviation hub. The project integrates airport operations with airport city (aerotropolis) encompassing aviation-related industries, logistics and cargo facilities, and MRO with commercial and mixed-use developments. The development supports long-term economic growth, enhances regional and international connectivity, and strengthens Thailand’s competitiveness in the global aviation industry.
The project faced significant challenges and obstacles that resulted in substantial delays to its commencement, during which economic conditions shifted materially and adversely affected its viability. Despite these circumstances, stakeholders remained committed to the project and engaged in constructive discussions to identify viable paths forward. Jirapat & Partners played a role in structuring practical solutions that aligned commercial objectives with legal and regulatory frameworks, and assisted in negotiating and drafting the agreements under a particularly tight timeframe, where any further delay could have adversely affected the project’s viability.
The Jirapat & Partners team was led by Jirapat Thammavaranucupt, together with Nithivit Pavisdhamrongsiri, Wachirawit Ongkhana, Phuvit Assawarungruang, Royut Nutchanart, and Bhantila Poonphatanapricha.
